Avifauna (2024)

In 2023, I approached composer Matthew Schultheis with the idea of creating a solo piano work centered around local Georgia birds and the conservation issues they face. Avifauna was the result of our collaboration, made possible by the generous support of the University of Georgia’s Willson Center for Humanities. On May 16, 2024, I premiered Avifauna at the Chamber Music Athens festival, alongside an educational presentation from local ecologist David Tilson about the birds in music and ways the audience can help to conserve birds.
